For years we sat on the other side of the table.
We ran the ecommerce teams, held the budgets, and fielded the same question every quarter: which events are actually worth going to?
Nobody could answer it well. Not the organisers, who had an obvious interest in telling us all of them. Not the vendors, who wanted us wherever their stand was. Not our peers, who were as lost in the calendar as we were.
So we did what most brand-side teams do. We guessed, we followed the logos, and we hoped the flights and the stand fees came back to us in pipeline. Sometimes they did. Often they did not.
Orbyt exists because that question deserves a real answer.
The gap we kept falling into
The commerce events world is enormous and almost entirely undiscoverable. There are hundreds of shows, summits, dinners, and closed-room sessions running across every major market, and no single place a brand can go to see them, compare them, and decide where its time and money should land.
Discovery happens through inbox clutter, a LinkedIn post you happened to catch, or a colleague forwarding something three weeks before the early-bird price expires.
That is not a discovery problem you can fix with a better newsletter. It is a structural gap.
The people who run events are not incentivised to help you choose between them, and the people who sponsor them are not neutral either. Everyone in the value chain has a reason to point you somewhere. Nobody is paid to point you to the right place for you.
We built Orbyt to be the layer that sits above all of it. Independent, operator-led, and built for the person whose name is on the budget rather than the person selling the booth.
What operator-led actually means here
Pion333rs is a group built by people who have run commerce, not just written about it.
That matters for a platform like this, because the value of an event is not the agenda. It is what a specific brand, at a specific stage, with a specific set of priorities, will get out of being in the room.
A Series A DTC brand chasing its first wholesale accounts needs a completely different calendar to a heritage house defending margin across forty markets. A retention lead and an acquisition lead should almost never be at the same events.
We know this because we have made the wrong call ourselves and paid for it in wasted quarters. Orbyt encodes that judgement so you do not have to learn it the hard way.
We are not trying to be a listings site with a nicer font. We are trying to answer the question we could never get answered: given who you are and what you are trying to do this year, where should you be?
Orbit the events that matter
The brand carries a simple idea. You should orbit the events that matter to you and let everything else fall out of view.
Most brands do the opposite. They orbit whatever is loudest, whatever their competitor posted about, whatever showed up first. The result is a scattered calendar, a travel budget spread too thin, and a team that comes back from six shows a year having meaningfully moved the needle at none of them.
Orbiting well means being deliberate. It means fewer events, chosen better, worked harder. It means turning up to three rooms where you belong instead of ten where you are decoration.
That is the behaviour Orbyt is built to make normal, and it is the behaviour that separates brands who compound their presence from brands who simply spend.
Why now
Two things changed at once.
The events calendar has never been more crowded, and brand budgets have never been under more scrutiny. Finance teams that used to wave through a stand fee now want the same return case they demand from paid media.
The old defence, that everyone in the sector is there so we should be too, does not survive a serious margin conversation.
That collision is exactly where Orbyt earns its place. When every pound is contested, guessing is not a strategy. Brands need a way to see the full landscape, weigh it against their own goals, and commit with conviction rather than fear of missing out.
Where we go from here
This is the beginning of a longer build.
Orbyt starts with discovery because discovery is the most broken part, but the ambition is wider: to be the place where brands find the best content, the best rooms, and the best opportunities in commerce, wherever in the world they happen to be.
We are building it in the open, and we are building it with the people it is meant to serve.
If you run commerce for a brand and you have ever stared at a conference calendar wondering which line to trust, you are exactly who we made this for.
Come and Orbyt with us.
